Our history
From a simple roadway up Bob’s Peak, Queenstown in the early 1960s to a thriving global business, Skyline Enterprises has a fascinating and fast-paced history.
1960s
1966
Skyline Enterprises was founded to find a way of getting more people more quickly up Bob's Peak to enjoy the view and dining at The Chalet which had been established earlier by Skyline Tours.
1980s
1985
On March 9th, 1985, Skyline Skyrides in Rotorua opens its doors, with a Restaurant, Café and the launch of the now world-renowned Luge.
1990s
1994
The new Gondola allowed many more visitors to come up to enjoy the view and on 27 February 1994, Skyline Queenstown welcomed it five millionth passenger.
2000s
2003
In summer of 2003, we welcomed the opening of first international Skyline Luge park at Mont Tremblant in Quebec, Canada.
2010s
2011
Skyline Queenstown commence a trial season for mountain biking - New Zealand's first Gondola assisted bike lift.
2020s
2021
Our second site in South Korea, Skyline Luge Busan, opens in July 2021.
